#MancrushMonday Barry Futter is Episode 20 in my series dedicated to showcasing some seriously inspiring men that have crossed my path. Previously on my #jaxpirational series I gave the ladies some props, it’s time the men got a shout out!

I have worked with Barry in the past and I so appreciate him taking time out of his busy schedule to chat with me. So without further adieu let me introduce:

Tell us a bit about yourself

A passion for exploring my surroundings, and finding cool places and things to do has driven me to create a business where i get to blow people away with amazing experiences.

When and where were you born?

26 January in Zimbabwe but live in SA since 2 years old

Where are you living now?

Cape Town

What kind of creative are you?

I need to challenge myself physically and continually find different ways to experience cool places!

Name of your brand?

Adventure Works

How did you discover your calling?

Basically I was so passionate about having a great time outdoors that I had to turn it into a job because I wasn’t employable in any form of office job!

What do you love most about what you do?

When you can see in someones eyes that you have completely blown them away and they will remember it for a long long time! Creating truly special and unique memories.

What do you like the least about what you do?

Its all good. The stress and challenges along the way make the end product that much better.

Who or what has been your biggest motivators ?

The desire to live an awesome life has been my biggest motivator!

Have you experienced fear along the way & how did you overcome it?

My hobbies of bigwave surfing and downhill mountain biking have taught me to be comfortable with fear the life lesson of “Don’t Panic after you’ve panicked!” These days I find breath-hold exercises the simplest and most effective way to take control of your energy and calm yourself down instantly

What are your greatest achievement/s?

Red Bull Big Wave Africa semi final; Freedom Challenge 2600km unassisted MTB race; WP colours for Downhill Mountain biking

Who do you thank for your success?

My wife and family but also myself. Just as you have to hold yourself accountable if you fail, you need to congratulate yourself when you achieve a goal. So often we don’t do this.

What upcoming projects do you have?

Rebuild my business to offer greater value and function with less of my input.

How are you currently coping with the #Covid19 Crisis?

I am confident business will come back stronger than before so trying to chill and enjoy this opportunity of time with family etc I am upskilling myself in areas that I am passionate about and enjoy rather than just what I “should” be doing.
